A year after winning the Super Bowl, the New Orleans Saints have returned to the playoffs. In the history of their franchise that Super Bowl was the first Super Bowl victory. Previous to that one the New Orleans Saints had never even played in a Super Bowl indeed.

On Saturday the Saints play the Seattle Seahawks and are favorites in NFL Odds.

The Saints’ dynamic offense was the key for them last season. With a balanced running attack and stellar passing game their offense put points up on the board in bunches.
When it is necessary to put their opponents out, their defense was also able to force turnovers.

Last season the Saints beat out the Vikings to advance to the Super Bowl. The Indianapolis Colts would be their Super Bowl opponents. Much of the world is shocked by their victory over the Colts. As the Saints beat two of the best quarterbacks of all time en route to their Super Bowl victory, they showed that they have what it takes to beat any team in the playoffs.

In the history of the franchise, the playoff appearance this season is just the 8th playoff appearance. Even though they now look like a team that should qualify for the playoffs on an annual basis, they waited 20 years for their first playoff appearance.

In the playoffs the Saints will now have a chance to build a winning tradition. They do have the momentum of last year’s Super Bowl victory to build off of while they don’t have much working for them in terms of team tradition in their history.

This weekend the New England Patriots will clash with the Buffalo Bills at Buffalo. In the NFL the Patriots appear to be the best team. Many people see them as the favorites to win the Super Bowl as they are now 12-2 on the season. The Buffalo Bills will have a tough task ahead of them if they expect to decelerate the Patriots whereas they are at present 4-10 on the season.

The total for the game is currently sitting at 44 whereas in football betting odds the Patriots will be the 9 point favorites in this game.

The Bills actually struggle to defend against the run as they have one huge hole in their defense. On the ground they are allowing almost 160 yards per game and in this game this will be the key for Buffalo. They will have no chance if they allow the Patriots to run the ball. Tom Brady can get the team going with or without the run being a good enough quarterback. The Patriots will really have the advantage if they get their rushing attack going.

The Patriots appear to have improved defensively and now outscore their opponents by an average of 10 points per game but there was a time this season where the Patriots looked like a team that could not play defense.

The Patriots will be the overwhelming favorites to come home with the victory in this game as they have won the last 5 games played in Buffalo between these two teams. Throughout the playoffs, a win here will put the Patriots in outstanding position to secure home field advantage.
